Thanks everybody for your kind words and participation. Here's that book I recommended per Richard's posting:
"Selling the Invisible" by Harry Beckwith. He also has another one called, "What Clients Love". These are perfect for the intangible professional services "selling." Happy Selling!

Scenario: Offered free virtual session via newsletter. Received reader interest for this free session via email. Requested they choose one of two days that were available. I never heard back from one of them. Do I communicate with this person again via email or leave it alone? What is the proper etiquette for this type of situation?

Tiffany:

Your insights are tremendous in setting the sales process as a win-win encounter. My question relates to selling services.

When you sell a product, there is a clear distinction between providing information to a prospect to help them buy your product and then ultimately selling a tangible product.to a customer.

However, when you are selling a service, especially an information-based service (tax advice, financial investment advice, business planning, building renovation plans, etc.) how do you convey the value of your services without giving away your information product?

Tiff,
i like what you said about creating win-win situations. One way to describe that is instead of trying to carve out a bigger piece of the pie for myself, (me vs. you), let's create a bigger pie (I win- You win). Would you agree?

Please type in any questions you may have and I'll address them on the call today (4p CT). We will open the phone lines the second half of the call if you want to chime in verbally. Thanks!
