Conference Salutes Women’s Health and Professional Development

Features Fundraiser for Dress for Success

Several hundred area professional women are expected to converge at the W Hotel – New Orleans on March 20 for Strategize for Success: The Conference for Professional and Executive Women

Organized by five New Orleans-based professional business speakers, the conference will provide participants the latest strategies and tips on how to develop their leadership, social media, organizing, and selling skills while increasing their professional net worth.

“It is initiatives like SucceedingWomen.com that keep our region moving forward in a down economy,” says Glenn Hayes, Executive Director of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce. Hayes became an enthusiastic early supporter of SucceedingWomen.com, LLC when founders shared the company vision with him early 2008. “Developing our workforce and investing in human capital is critical to strengthening our region economically and improving the quality of life Jefferson Parish, greater New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. The Strategize for Success Conference and SucceedingWomen.com are doing that,” says Hayes.

“Our local economic forecast is certainly more favorable than the nation as a whole,” notes organizer Myra Corrello, “but it’s imperative that we each take personal responsibility for maintaining our viability in the marketplace.  We want our local professional women to be ready to assume key leadership roles within our community and within their organizations.”

According to Corrello, “Being ‘leader-ready’ means knowing what to do, how to solicit key support for it, and how to accomplish it most effectively and efficiently.”

But increasing leadership responsibility also can bring about stress and may cause professional women to neglect their own healthcare.  Attendees will participate in a special salute to women’s health luncheon, hosted by Maria Muro, publisher of New Orleans Living Magazine and Television.  “We at New Orleans Living are eager to bring to our readers and viewers resources to help them live their most happy, fulfilled and healthy life possible.”  Muro will be joined by area health experts to provide tips on how to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

To provide all women with opportunities for professional growth, conference organizers have joined forces with Dress for Success to offer a donation center where attendees can bring specific items of need and where they can pledge monetary support to the program.  “We appreciate opportunities like this to engage additional members of the professional community into the work of our program,” says Hope Encalade, New Orleans DFS Executive Director.

The conference, offered with additional support from AT&T, the W Hotel, and BP, will run from 8:45 – 4:00 pm.  For more information and registration, go to:  www.strategizeforsuccess.com.
